OFFICIAL BUCKETBALL ASSOCIATION RULES




INTRO

BBA stands for BucketBall association.

BucketBall is a game.  It is played with 2 teams with 2 players.  There are 2 buckets about 60 feet apart.  The objective is to put a BBA approved ball in the other teams bucket using a tennis racket. There are 2 halves

HOW TO PLAY
1-To begin the game, the captains from each team come to the center circle
     
                1A-Before the game, the teams must tell referee who is captain

2-Referee will drop the ball inside the face-off circle

Here is the rules

1-only refs and players on the field. – If a fan runs on a field a ref can object them from a game.

2-refs CANNOT change calls once made.

                2A-If there is two refs that disagree with a call.  The clock will stop and they will discuss. In that case the call CAN be overturned.

3-a free shot from 15 feet away MUST be taken if a penalty occurs. These are all the penalties.

              3A-a tripping is called (player that gets tripped doesn’t have to fall for it to be called.)

              3B-opposing racket hits a another player

              3C-pushing by body or hands on purpose.

              3D-slide tackle (tripping by sliding)

              3E-If tip of racket goes above shoulder level.

              3F-biting or scratching

              3G-not following subbing rules (for subbing rules go to rule 10)

              3H-punching or hitting

              3I-player holds on to ball to long.
           
              3J-dosent follow free throw rules

              3k-If on purpose (except for rule 3C) and violent ref can take the player who did it out of game/tourney. for more info on objection go to rule 7.
           
              3G-If there are more than 5 penalties in a half a free shot will occur for each of the following penalties.

4-Game Start

              4A-A centrally placed circle inside the half circle will be where a BBA approved ref will place the ball in the middle and each teams captain will attempt to hit it back to their teammate.

              4B-At face-off, the team captain can only hit the ball after the ball hits the ground

              4C-If ball is hit before it touches the ground (ruled by ref) the ball is awarded to the other team at the opposing free shot line. and a penalty is given

              4D-At tip-off, the team captains teammate must stand behind the free shot line until the ball strikes the ground.

5-Special Game play Rules

             5A-Any player on the field cannot hold the ball on the face of the racket for more than 5 seconds (ref will count with an outward motion of the arm; as in basketball)

              5B-You CANNOT shoot it while it is on your racket.  If you don’t let go a penalty will be given
                                  
              5C-You are allowed to pass the ball while the ball is on the face of your racket

6-Kicking the ball IS allowed
              
               6A-Although it is allowed while moving, you may NOT kick the ball in for a goal (ruled by referee)
                       
               6B-If the ball is kicked in the goal, the ball is rewarded to the opposing team on the opposite free-shot line 
               
7-Ejection can be issued for a tournament or a single game. 

               7A-ejection can take place for a violent penalty (penalties listed in rule 3)

               7B-ejection CAN be overturned by ONLY the ref who objected them.

               7C-A fan can get ejected for the following

7CA-yelling bad words or yelling at ref or directing bad things    toward ref (ref decides what qualifies as a “bad” word)

                                7CB-interfering with the game.

               7D-Only the team captain can associate with ref

                                7DA-If another players associates with ref they CAN be ejected

               7E-Players can be ejected for the following

                                7EA-yelling bad words or yelling at ref (ref decides what qualifies as a “bad” word)

                                7EB-directing bad things toward ref.

                                

8-A team captain is usually best on the team.

               8A-There must be the only one

               8B-They are the only one who can talk to the ref.  (Not yell at ref.)

9-If a match gets cut short for some reason it must have lasted 1FULL half to be considered a game.

10-It is only considered a goal if the WHOLE ball goes in the bucket.

               10A-It is to refs best judgment.
11-Subbing works like hockey one player leaves as the other one comes out you DO NOT need to call a timeout to sub.
               11A-The player that’s coming out must be all the way across the line/into the subs area before the player that is coming in comes in. If not a penalty will be called.
               11B-The subbing box may not be on the field.  It should be on the side right next to the field.  Each teams box should be separated somehow. 
               11C- If the players in the sub box start arguing a penalty will be awarded for both teams.
 12-If the ball goes out of bounds the team that didn’t hit it out gets the ball at their own free shot circle.
13-The free shot is taken from 20 feet away from the bucket
               13A-The opposing team has 1 player behind the bucket and one 10 feet back from the shooter.
               13B-The team that’s shooting must have the one who is taking the shot (which must be the one that got the penalty from.) The other player must stand behind center field
               13C-The player behind the bucket can’t leave until the ball passes the bucket.  If they leave early a penalty is on them.
               13D-The ref will signal when the players can move from their spots by clapping there hands.
 14-Timeouts
               14A-In a normal match, teams are allotted 2 timeouts a half.
               14B-Timeouts last 60 seconds each.
               14C-These are the default rules, a tournament commissioner can decide how many and how long timeouts are.

EQUIPMENT RULES

A1-If bucket moves there should be some sort of mark to show where it was/should be.

                A1A-bucket should not be nailed in. So it doesn’t crack

                A3B-the bucket should be roughly 21 by 13 feet.

                A4C-Buckets should be checked by a BBA ref or member before each match.

                A4D-Should not be marked by a hard solid (like a brick.)  It should be like string or paint.

A2-What qualifies as tennis racket is a tennis racket.

                A21-NO racquetball rackets, hockey sticks, or golf club

A3-A BBA ball is a red big tennis ball.

A4-A field is as long as wanted as long if the buckets are 60 feet apart, It must 20 feet wide though.

                A4A-field must be marked somehow

A5-A middle line with a small circle (for face-offs) should be shown some how, as well as circle 20 feet from each bucket (for free shots)

TOURNEY RULES

B1-A BBA tourney must be approved to be considered A BBA tourney.

B2-The Tourney owner/runner gets to picked how long halves are, How severe the weather must be to cancel a match, age limit, what kind of tourney, how often the clock will stop, how many teams, how many players per team ( no more than 4), if there’s subs, if an award of any type is given out, how teams get chosen, and if teams have to pay to get in.

REFEREE STANDARDS (FOR TOURNEYS)

C1-To be a ref you must be approved by the BBA

C2-You must have an understanding of the rules

C3-Must know where to stand

C4-If caught favoring in a tourney

                C4A-Could be suspended for an amount of time chosen by a commissioner

C5-If there are two refs that disagree with a call.  The clock will stop and they will discuss. In that case the call CAN be overturned.
